STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Some established committees in the city of Starkville could soon lose some of there authority under an ordinance to be considered by aldermen Tuesday night.
The ordinance includes language to allow the Mayor and board of aldermen to be the final binding authority when it comes to committee recommendations.
The wording would change all boards, commissions, and committees created by the board of aldermen to an advisory capacity.
In the past, some committees were given the absolute authority over matters they considered.
The measure would go into effect 30 days after it is approved by aldermen.
