STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Saturday night, Starkville High School claimed the Class 5A football state championship with a win over Pascagoula.

Now school leaders are warning residents to be wary of solicitors looking to cash in on the win.

Starkville officials say they have not contracted with outside organizations or third parties to solicit donations for the school.

They say no one has permission to act on behalf of the school.

Officials say anyone who received such calls should discuss it with Starkville School District athletic director before making a donation.
