STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — Work will likely begin early next year on a drainage project aimed at alleviating the longtime flooding problem on Carver Drive in Starkville.
Aldermen voted 5-2 Tuesday night to accept a $677,700 bid for a company to concrete the sides and bottom of a ditch in that area.
City Clerk Taylor Adams says the city will pay $50,000 out of the general fund for the work.
He adds the rest will be covered through a loan from the Mississippi Development Authority the city will pay back.
Adams says aldermen could approve construction documents for the project as early as their January 7 meeting. Once that's done, the work can proceed.
