MACON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Tony Sudduth and others may not ever forget April eleventh.

He would capture video of a monstrous tornado that damaged a number of homes, farms, and a communications tower.

"I hate to say that it's exciting to see a tornado, but it is exciting to watch it. It's just the aftermath and the destruction that it leaves and puts a little sorrow in seeing what went by," farmer Jack Huerkamp said.

While some repair or replace what was lost at home, a joint effort to build back materializes in the form of a tower.

It's been just over a month since a tornado ripped an essential communications tower from it's foundation. A new tower is nearing completion.

Extension Agent Dr. Dennis Reginelli says all came together to recover.

"They were close before the storm happened. So, since the storm they were organized in the beginning.  It didn't really take a lot of hard work for them to get this tower. They had the foundation laid as far as their team approach," he said.

"If happens to your neighbor, it happens to you and you just have to go down and help them. You have to live life. You just do it," Huerkamp added.

A new, 300-foot tower will now be their property, and GPS equipment will be mounted on the tower.

It sends a signal to equipment enabling farmers to plant and spray with pin-point precision.
