JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Supreme Court has agreed to review the appeal of a Montgomery County man's life sentence for cocaine possession.
Joel Baskin, 36, was convicted by a jury and sentenced as a habitual offender.
Baskin was arrested in October of 2010 by Winona police officers serving a warrant for aggravated assault.
During his arrest, they found the drugs in Baskin's pocket.
Baskin appealed his conviction says the judge was wrong not hear a motion to suppress the evidence based on lack of probable cause and a seperate motion to challenge the credibility of a witness based on prior bad acts.
The Mississippi Court of Appeals upheld his conviction in February.
