ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- A teenager is being tried as an adult after shooting a federal employee in the face.

Cedric Nichols, 17, is now in the Monroe County Detention Center, being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

Nichols is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police Chief Henry Randle said David Puddister stepped out his home Saturday morning to let the dog out when he said he saw Nichols in his shed.

Puddister was shot at least once in the lower jaw during the confrontation.

Puddister remains in the North Mississippi Medical Center in good condition.
