AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) — An Aberdeen woman died as the result of a traffic accident in the city of Amory Thursday night.
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley identifies the woman as Angela Johnson, 34, of Egypt Road.
Police Chief Ronnie Bowen says the accident happpened around 5:15 on Highway 278 near the Amory Animal Hospital.
Authorities say Johnson was traveling west on Highway 278 when her car veered into the opposite lane and struck an 18-wheeler head-on.
Gurley says Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt.
The accident remains under investigation.
Gurley says it is the fourth fatal traffic accident in Monroe County in the last 11 days.
