ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Leigh Todd has been hired as the elementary principal for Aberdeen effective July 1.
Todd replaces Angie Irving who is moving to the central office.
Todd was fired in March of 2011 from the Amory School District over the punishment of a student.
District officials said Todd forced the student to walk around for a majority of the day with his tongue sticking out as punishment for sticking out his tongue at a teacher.
Todd filed a suit against the Amory School District, the then Superintendent Gearl Loden and special programs director Candace Moore.
In her lawsuit Todd claimed Loden and Moore tried to withhold evidence, she was defamed, and a majority of the board didn't attend the hearing and denied her due process.
In January a federal judge stated both sides agreed to a settlement and dismissed the lawsuit.
Most recently, Todd was a literacy coach for Okolona schools.
