AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) — Patients at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory who undergo single site surgery are noticing a quicker recovery time thanks to modern technology.

After months of training on the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, doctors can now perform certain procedures with one single incision.

The single site instrument allows the doctor to only have to make a one-inch incision on the patient's naval.

"It gives us better visualization of the field," adds Dr. Woodrow Brand, general surgeon. "It gives the patient a smaller incision with less scarring and less pain and quicker recovery."

Robotic surgery is increasingly the surgery of choice for many surgeons who specialize in gynecology, urology and general surgery.
