Safety checkpoint lands two men behind bars

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Two men from Okolona are behind bars in Monroe County facing drug charges.

According to authorities, on Saturday, December 8, Jacquette Atkinson, 20, and Tarekee Braylock, 19, were arrested on Evans Road in Prairie.

It happened during a safety checkpoint held by the Monroe County Sheriff Department and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.

Atkinson and Braylock are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Investigators say the men were found with marijuana, digital scales and a handgun.

They are being held at the Monroe County Detention Center where bond has not been set.
