Nearly 50 people to take the Oath of Allegiance

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Forty-eight people will take the Oath of Allegiance to become America’s newest citizens during a naturalization ceremony at the U.S. District Court in Aberdeen.

The ceremony will take place Wednesday, September 26.

Mississippi State University President Dr. Mark E. Keenum will deliver congratulatory remarks.

The Northern district of Mississippi’s U.S. District Court holds a naturalization ceremony once per year.

The 48 citizenship candidates originate from the following 23 countries: Benin, Bolivia, Cambodia, Chile, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Iran, Kuwait, Mexico, Morocco, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Sierra Leone, Syria, Thailand, Vietnam and Yemen.
