SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (WTVA) -- Eight men with ties to Mississippi were honored Friday for giving their lives in defense of the Alamo.
A delegation from the Magnolia State traveled to San Antonio for the unveiling of the marker.
Among the eight who died in the 13 day seige in 1836, was William Philip King, 15, who was born in Cotton Gin Port in Monroe County.
King was the youngest defender killed in the battle.
King County, Texas is named in his honor.
Other Mississippians included included M. B. Clark, William Mills, Isaac Millsaps, Willis Moore, George Pagan, Christopher Adams Parker, and Richardson Perry.
The Mississippi Legislature authorized the placement of the marker during the 2012 session.
