OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Marshall County man will serve a 71 month federal prison sentence for attempting to set up a cocaine and marijuana distribution network in northeast Mississippi.
Denorris Howell, 30, of Waterford pleaded guilty in September to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
A federal indictment accuses Howell and nine others of moving drugs into Lee and Chickasaw County.
Authorities say the group was working together to expand the network of customers in the effort to obtain a large amount of money.
Howell's prison sentence will run concurrently to a 17-year-sentence for manslaughter he is currently serving the Marshall County Correctional Facility.
Howell will also serve three years probation on the federal charges upon his release.
