SMITHVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) --Ever since a tornado caused widespread destruction in Smithville in April 2011, residents have been counting the days to when a new grocery store will open.

Now, the wait for that store will soon come to an end.

The town announced Thursday it has reached an agreement for Postell Meat Market to open.

The new store will carry groceries, custom meats, and produce.

It will be open six days a week Monday through Saturday.

"We have the best quality meat that money can buy at a good price," said Donny Postell, owner. "We go all out to serve the customers to give them this good price, and we cater to people.  Whatever they want, we see that they get it."

"Oh, it's going to help this town tremendously. Not only inside the city limits, but outside the city limits," added Gregg Kennedy, mayor of Smithville. "All of north Monroe and south Itawamba County. It's just going to be a tremendous lift for our area."

Plans call for the new Postell Meat Market to open sometime in November.
