AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Relief may soon be in sight for Amory residents looking to beat the heat.

Plans for a new splash pad in Frisco Park are in the works to offer folks a cool alternative.

The existing fountain has been an Amory landmark for years and is getting a cool transformation.

"The Coke Take it to the Park Challenge" has offered Amory a chance to win a grant that will go toward the splash pad.

The estimated cost of the project ranges between $80,000 and $160,000.
City leaders are optimistic that once the park gets a make-over more people will visit.

"Its been useful and served our community well for a number of years but its time that we are moving on and moving to another type of facility. We're attempting to turn [Frisco Park] into more of a destination point for children to come and use the splash pad as they do in other communities," said Mayor Howard Boozer.

To help speed up the process folks are asked to go online. to the Coke Take it to the Park Challenge website and type in frisco.
