AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- It's 58 years and counting.
That's how long WTVA's Kay Bain has devoted her time to volunteer work across north Mississippi and beyond.
She is also a familiar sight at the Golden Living nursing care facility in Amory where she performs regularly throughout the year.
Today marks a special day for this well-known entertainer.
Amory Mayor Howard Boozer presented Ms. Bain with a proclamation declaring October second to be Kay Bain day.
She is also being recognized for outstanding volunteer service through the Mississippi Commission on Volunteer Service.
"We feel strongly about Kay Bain and her service-not just to our town and region, but everybody in this area. She is an institution is my opinion," Mayor Boozer said.
"Any senior adult just lights up because she truly loves (them.) This is her passion in life, I believe," Golden Living Activities Director Dian Wilemon said.
Kay Bain has offered her volunteer service since she was a teenager.
