AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Ten hospitals owned by Health Management Associates plan to hold rallies Thursday to garner community support for the medical facilities.
The hospitals, including Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center in Amory, will host "Help Save Out Hospital" rallies at medical facilities across the state.
The Amory event will take place from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the main entrance of the women's center.
HMA officials say patients deserve to get the care they need at their community hospital without an insurance company standing in their way.
Blue Cross notifed HMA earlier this year it was terminating its hospitals.
The hospital system claims BCBS made the decision after HMA sued the insurer for underpaying amounts agreed to under contract.
Gilmore and the other hospitals say they are working with patients to keep them from paying more for out of pocket services.
