AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - Residents of Amory have been waiting for the day when their town's local market returns.

Back by popular demand the Frisco Homegrown Market kicks off this week on Tuesday night at Frisco Park.

Organizers had planned to launch it Saturday morning but due to the heavy rainfall Friday night, the first market kickoff had to be rescheduled.

The market will run Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and on Tuesday nights from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Frisco Homegrown Market will run through the month of October and will feature a variety of produce and some arts and crafts.

"Just to give people the opportunity to buy local fresh home grown produce as well as fall arrangements and hay mums pumpkins for the fall and that sort of thing," said Carol Knight, Amory Main Street Manager. "We will continue this into 2014."

Vendors are limited to just 25 percent of out-of-local market merchandise as the majority of everything they bring is sold by local certified growers.
