ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - The Monroe County Sheriff's office arrested one person Saturday afternoon for possession of illegal drugs.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said authorities pulled over a red Chevrolet Impala on Matubba Road in Aberdeen shortly after two o'clock.

Authorities said the vehicle matched the description of a car involved in an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday.

As authorities approached the vehicle, one suspect ran away on foot, and the other was captured and taken into custody.

After bringing in a K-9 unit, authorities found "a felony amount" of codeine inside the vehicle.

They also found crack and powder cocaine hidden near the suspect's residence under a lawnmower.

No names have been released at this time. The other suspect remains at large.

Cantrell said they're not sure if this case is related to the armed robbery that happened at Hurley's Used Auto and Salvage in Amory about an hour prior.

It remains under investigation by the sheriff's department.
