SMITHVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) -- Construction begins this week on the new Access Family Health Services Smithville Medical Clinic.

Work was scheduled to begin last week, but it was pushed back due to rainy weather conditions.

The project must be completed within a certain time period because of grant guidelines.

The new facility is expected to open sometime during February 2014.

"We have 240 days to complete the project...As soon as the site work is done we should hit a good time of the year as far as the weather. We hope to be on schedule with the project," said Marilyn Sumerford, executive director Access Family Health Services.

The administrative office for the main site and satellite clinics will remain at its current location.
