AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Highway bypass project in Monroe County is in full swing.
Crews are working to build a new stretch of highway and it's 5.2 miles long.
Work on the project began in November of 2012 where Highway 278 runs through Amory, and is progressing west towards the town of Becker.
Land from Highway 278 down to Ritter Road has been cleared, but so far no bridges are complete.
"As a whole that project is about 15 percent complete in time and roughly that in actual completion in monetary value. It's basically on schedule after going through the winter," said Jamie McDonald, construction engineer.
The project on the bypass is expected to be finished in June of 2015.
