AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - Monroe Countians turned out for a retirement reception like no other.

Mayor Howard Boozer along with his wife Brenda and family were honored.

Hundreds of people made their way inside the Gilmore Foundation Conference Center, to say thanks to Boozer for his service as the city of Amory's mayor.

After a lengthy meet and greet, there were speeches to go with honors and recognition.

The event was attended by state and local leaders as well.

"The relationships I developed, the people I worked with, the success's we've had even in difficult times...many things will stay with me forever," outgoing Amory Mayor Howard Boozer said.

During his retirement he plans to explore all the hobbies he has developed over the years, including hunting, fishing and classic cars. He also plans to spend more time with his grandchildren.
