AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- An accident involving an all-terrain vehicle at an Amory campground ends with one man dead.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley said 40-year-old David Christopher Herrington of Samson, Ala., was a passenger on a Polaris Razor when that vehicle overturned in Weaver Creek near the campground.

It happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Gurley said the female driver was unable to free Herrington because he was wearing his seat belt, so she went to get help afterward.

Deputies and first responders administered CPR after releasing Herrington from the vehicle, and the man was transported to Gilmore Regional Medical Center.

Gurley said Herrington was pronounced dead on arrival, with the cause of death listed as drowning.

The accident remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.
