Winchester recalls ammunition

CLAYTON, Mo. (WTVA) -- Olin Corporation has announced its Winchester division is recalling 5.56mm M855 62 Grain PENE centerfire rifle ammunition.

Company officials say an evaluation determined the ammunition contains incorrect propellant and could cause serious injuries to the shooter and bystanders when fired.

The lot number affected is WCC10M10-004 and has the symbol number ZGQQ3308.

The numbers are stamped on the outside of the shipping container and on the outside of the 30-round carton.

Consumers who have the affected ammunition should stop using it immediately and contact Winchesteer at (866) 423-5224 to arranage for free UPS pick-up of the recalled ammuntion.

When the recall ammuntion is received, Winchester will ship replacement ammunition direct to you.
