BOLIVAR, Tenn. (AP) _ A judge has reset the trial dates for two women charged in a Tennessee murder-kidnapping case.
An attorney for Mary Mayes told a Hardeman County judge Friday that a new trial date is needed because he has not received critical discovery evidence from U.S. marshals.
Teresa Mayes lawyer made the same request for the same reason and the prosecution said it couldn't go to trial May 16 because of ``the failure of the U.S. government.''
The court in Bolivar set Sept. 9 as the trial date for Mary Mayes and Sept. 16 as the date for Teresa Mayes.
They are accused in the April 2012 kidnapping of two young girls in Whiteville and the killing their mother and sister by Teresa Mayes' husband, who killed himself as police closed in.
