Tennessee woman dies in Highway 72 accident

ASHLAND, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Tennessee woman died in a traffic accident on Highway 72 Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol says Erica Hendershot, 30, of Henderson, Tennessee was driving north on Highway 7 in an SUV when she pulled into the path of a pickup driven by Larry Byerly, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Hendershot died at the scene of the accident.

Her ten-year old son and seven-year-old daughter were airlifted to Lebonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis in serious condition.

Byerly and his wife, Glenda Byerly, 70, were taken by ambulance to the MED with moderate injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
