JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Secretary of State's office reports six people have qualified to run in a special election for Mississippi House District 36.
Those who qualified by the 5 p.m. deadline on Monday include:
Roderick Van Daniel
Jimmy Davidson
Bobbie C. Davis
Karl Gibbs
Eddie Longstreet
Jeannie Johnson Staten
The winner of the special election will fill the seat left vacant with the death earlier this year of David Gibbs, 76, of West Point.
House District 36 includes parts of Clay, Lowndes and Monroe counties.
If a runoff is necessary, it will take place on April 2.
