NETTLETON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Law enforcement officials are warning people about an email scam promising half-off the recipient's cable bill.

Nettleton Police Chief Jackie Wimberley says he contacted officials with Comcast after receiving the email, and they confirm it is a scam.

He says the email provides a link for the person to pay the reduced amount of the bill.

Wimberley says it's an attempt to get your personal banking information.

He says anyone receiving an email about the offer should contact their local cable provider.
