TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Officials with the Mississippi High School Activities Association never took action Thursday on a proposal to kick 13 private schools out of the organization.
The move to ban the schools, including Tupelo Christian Prep and French Camp Academy, was over the fact private school students can attend from anywhere while public schools have assigned areas where students come from.
The proposal was never brought up for a vote.
The MHSAA did vote to expand the state high school basketball tournament. That measure must be voted on a second time in February before it becomes official.
