TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Natchez Trace Parkway is one of two Mississippi based national parks to make the list of the most visited national parks.
NTP, which runs 444 miles through Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, was seventh on the Top 10 Most Visited Places of the National Park System in 2012.
Officials say nearly 5.56 million people visited the parkway.
The Gulf Island National Seashore, which includes Horn, Petit Bois, and Ship Islands, ranked ninth with nearly 4.97 million visitors.
The Natchez Trace Parkway is preparing for its 75th anniversary celebration on May 18th at the Parkway headquarters in Tupelo.
