HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Houston police have released more details into the discovery of an abandoned baby in a local storage unit.

Police say Cora Lynn Watkins, 25, left the baby in a storage shed behind her mother's home on West Pittsboro Street.

Investigators say Watkins delivered the baby at an undetermined location, then carried it to the shed.

Authorities took the child to the hospital after kids playing nearby heard the child cry and found it in the shed.

The baby is currently in Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis and will remain with the Department of Human Services until it is adopted.

Police say Watkins had complications from the birth and is currently hospitalized in Tupelo.

Police Chief Billy Voyles says Watkins will be charged with felony abuse of a newborn and abandonment of a child under 6-years-old.

In 2010, authorities say Watkins left a baby in a car seat at the Salvation Army in Houston and was charged on the same two charges.

Since it was her first offense, Watkins was placed on probation instead of receiving jail time.

Police say her probation ended last month.
