JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Employment Security shows the state's unemployment rate for June comes in at 7.9 percent.
The June percentage is a slight increase from May's 7.7 percent but is less than a percent lower from June of last year.
Locally, the lowest unemployment rate is at 6.9 percent in Union County.
The highest locally and statewide is in Clay County, which had an unemployment rate of 18 percent.
According to the U.S. Labor Department, the state's June jobless rate was the worst in the nation.
