HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Former Northern District Transportation Commissioner Bill Minor has a section of Highway 78 named in his honor.

Tuesday morning, officials unveiled a marker in Holly Springs to name the stretch of the highway in Marshall County as the William R. "Bill" Minor Memorial Highway.

Minor was serving as commissioner when he died in November of 2010.

The Democrat from Holly Springs was elected northern district transportation commissioner in 2003.

Minor also served 20 years in the Senate representing Marshall, Benton and DeSoto counties.
