PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - A man who escaped from a work program in Pontotoc County in May now faces a $1,000,000 bond in the case.
Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask tells WTVA.com that Gary Brooke Sneed, 32, of Pontotoc County, appeared before a Justice Court judge on Wednesday and has been charged with jail escape.
The sheriff says he was originally in jail on a drug related charge and was also on hold by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
The sheriff's department says Holly Morris, 38, also of Pontotoc County had an initial appearance in court on Wednesday and has been charged with aiding and abetting with a jail escape in the case.
Authorities say Morris picked up Sneed to help him escape.
Sheriff Mask says bond for Morris has also been set at $1,000,000.
Both Sneed and Morris were arrested in Marion County, Florida, just days after the escape.
The sheriff says the case will now go before a grand jury.
