COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) — Highway 69 in Lowndes County has reopened following a two-vehicle accident involving a log truck.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. a half mile south of Lake Lowndes Road.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says a 16-year-old girl from Columbus backed her Dodge truck onto the highway where it was struck by the big rig.

Sergeant Criss Turnipseed says the girl was not hurt.  However, he adds the truck driver, 73-year-old Robert Spruill of Aliceville, Alabama, was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital - Golden Triangle with non-life threatening injuries.

The log truck overturned and spilled a load of logs onto the highway.

Turnipseed says the highway reopened nearly five hours later.
