JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- A special election is underway Tuesday to fill the seat for Mississippi Senate District 16.
Angela Turner Lairy and Kenny Fowler are facing off in the race.
Senate District 16 includes parts of Clay, Lowndes, Noxubee and Oktibbeha counties.
The winner will serve out the term of Bennie Turner, who passed away in December.
Polls will remain open until 7 p.m.
