COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Lowndes County authorities say the discover of methamphetamine during a traffic stop ends with the arrest of six people on drug charges.
Sheriff Mike Arledge says narcotics agents, deputies, and detectives stopped a car on Highway 182 East in Lowndes County on Wednesday.
He says Stephen Knight, 44 , Scott Cook, 32, Todd Canida, 45, of Columbus and Krystal Roper, 38, of Caledonia were taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Officers then executed a search warrant at a home on Highway 182 East.
Arledge says they arrested James Christian York, 38, and Brittany Leigh York, 39, of Columbus were charged with possesion of methamphetamine with the intent to manufacture.
Authorities say he seized nearly one ounce of methamphetamine.
Arledge says federal charges are pending and the ATF was notified because of an illegal weapons violation.
He says the also notified the Mississippi Attorney General's office regarding possible counterfeit merchandise found during the search of the home.
Arledge says the investigation is continuing and more charges could be filed.
All six are currently in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center waiting an initial appearance in court.
