COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Two planned road closures will block intersections on the Mississippi University for Women campus during the month of November.
Beginning November 4th, the northeast side of the intersection at MUW Drive and 6th Avenue South, in front of Goen Hall, will be blocked.
Traffic will still be able to turn east onto 6th Avenue South and exit through the construction gate.
Construction at this intersection is expected to mostly affect MSMS residents living in Goen Hall.
Construction is expected to last one week, weather permitting.
The second project will close 5th Avenue South from in front of the Art & Design Building to MUW Drive, this includes the intersection of 5th Avenue South and Serenade Drive.
Construction is expected to begin on this project on November 11th, but will not begin until the 6th Avenue South at MUW Drive project is completed.
MUW Police Chief Danny Patton says the gate at 11th Street and 7th Avenue South (south of Jones Hall) will be opened to allow vehicles access to South Campus.
To access South Campus from 11th Street, motorists will have enter through the 7th Avenue South Gate, turn North on Serenade (between Jones and Frazer Halls), then East on 6th Avenue South (in front of Goen Hall), before turning north on MUW Drive.
Construction is expected to last one week, weather permitting.
