COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Columbus man arrested last week after he was caught in the process of breaking into camp houses in Lowndes County now faces additional burglary charges.

Authorities say Willie Rainer, 19, faces 10 counts of burglary of a dwelling and one count of burglary of a commercial building.

Rainer was arrested last Thursday after a search warrant was served at his home on 2nd Street in Columbus.

Chief Deputy Mark Miley says the investigation began after a citizen stopped Rainer from leaving an area where four buildings had been broken into.

The person fired one shot into the air, but Rainer ran into the nearby woods.

Deputies round Rainer's car stuck in a field and items from the burglaries in the vehicle and in the surrounding areas.

He is currently being held on a $125,000 bond, but has yet to be arraigned on the new charges.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
