COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Residents of a Columbus neighborhood will get another update on a recent settlement over ground contamination from a now-closed creosote plant in the city.
The Environmental Protection Agency and the U. S. Department of Justice will hold a meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at Columbus Municipal School District on 20th Street North.
Officials will answer questions involving the recent settlement with Kerr-McGee, its affects on the Multistate Trust and the cleanup of the 90-acre site on 14th Avenue North.
The facility operated from 1928 until 2003 and manufactured pressure-treated railroad products such as wooden cross ties, switch ties, and timbers.
If you can't attend the meeting and have questions related to the status of claims filed by individuals with the Tronox Tort Trust, you should go to the Trust’s helpline at firstname.lastname@example.org or toll free at (800) 753-2480.
