JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Court of Appeals has denied the appeal of a man serving prison time for an armed robbery in Lowndes County.

Terrance Barker, 32, was among three people arrested for the 2001 robbery of two men at a home in Lowndes County.

Barker pleaded guilty to an armed robbery charged in 2002 and was sentenced to 17 years in prison.

In 2012, Barker filed a motion in Lowndes County Circuit Court to reduce his sentence or change his plea.

He claims he received erroneous advice from his attorney before entering the plea.

The court rejected the motion claiming it was filed after a three year limit set in state law.

On Tuesday, The Mississippi Court of Appeals agreed with the lower court's decision.
