Man charged with kidnapping, burglary

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- The investigation into a kidnapping in Lowndes County has ended with the arrest of a Crawford man.

Lowndes County Sheriff Chief of Investigations Lt. Ryan Rickert says James Dooley, 26, was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Monday.

Dooley is charged with kidnapping in the abduction of a woman from a Crawford home on January 8.

Rickert says the woman to authorities Dooley had a weapon when he took her.

Investigators say he held her for two days before she managed to escape.

Dooley is also charged with burglary of a commercial building for a break-in reported in the Crawford area.

He remains in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $27,500 bond.
