Man arrested after punching officer in face

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA)- A Columbus man is behind bars for allegedly punching an officer in the face.

Police say Justin Holliness, 25, charged at police and hit an officer when they tried to make an arrest. 

The officer had to deploy his taser in order to make an arrest, according to investigators. 

Holliness is charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, hindering prosecution, and violation of parole.

Officers say they discovered a white substance consistant with cocaine when Holliness was searched at the Lowndes County Detention Center.

A charge of possession of cocaine was added.
