LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - A routine traffic stop in Columbus lead to a high speed chase.

Investigators say Sammy Lee Young Jr., 23, of Columbus refused to stop after running several stop signs.

Police chased him until Young jumped out of his car and ran.

Police captured him a short time later.

He now remains behind bars charged with five counts of disobeying a traffic control device, reckless driving, failure to yield to blue lights, suspended driver’s license, no insurance, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of paraphernalia and disobeying a police officer.
