JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol reports five people died in traffic accidents during the recent Christmas Holiday period.
Troopers reported William Mixon, 65, of Sulligent, Alabama died in a traffic accident in Lowndes County on Sunday and Amanda Autrey, 25, of Baldwyn died in a Christmas Day accident in Lee County.
Three other deadly accidents were reported central and southern Mississippi.
Troopers report working 211 traffic accidents, issuing 5,601 traffic citations, and making 111 DUI arrests.
The Christmas Holiday period began Friday at 6pm an ended at mid-night Christmas night.
