COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Salvation Army Officer Major Eric Roberts will be traveling from Columbus to Oklahoma on June 6 to provide relief support in communities affected by recent tornadoes.

Major Roberts will be serving as the Finance and Administration Officer for the Moore, OK Incident Command.

Major Roberts will be serving a two week deployment to Oklahoma.

Major Roberts will be serving on an Incident command team responsible for transitioning from relief to intermediate recovery.

Since the response began, The Salvation Army has served over 37,000 hot meals and over 54,000 bottles of water.

Over 1,000 have received Emotional and Spiritual Support from Salvation Army Emotional and Spiritual Care teams.

Because the Salvation Army is a national leader in Emergency Disaster Services, a network is already in place to provide additional support for those affected by the tornado.

The Salvation Army will be available throughout this disaster until no need remains needed.

Salvation Army Disaster Services are funded solely by the generous donations of the American public.

The Salvation Army asks people who want to help those affected by Natural Disasters to visit or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.

Monetary donations are needed to meet survivors’ most immediate needs.

A $20 donation will feed ten meals to survivors of Natural Disasters.

A $100 donation will feed a family of four for four days, provide two cases of drinking water and one household cleanup kit, containing brooms, mops, buckets and cleaning supplies.
