ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) -- Nine people were arrested in a drug roundup by law enforcement officers in Lowndes County Thursday.
The federal court indictments show those arrested were wanted on drug or firearms charges.
The names of those who appeared before a federal magistrate in Aberdeen Thursday include: Porsha Mixon, 28, of Columbus, Nicholas Antonio Langston, 28, of Coldwater, Steven Cathey, 34, of Olive Branch, Anthony Demarcus Hill, 34, of Artesia, Devorris Hill, 28, of Columbus Latoria Bridges, 26, of Columbus, Marcus Walker, 34, of Columbus, Jamel Banks, 33, of West Point, and Justin Calmes, 34, of Columbus.
Federal, state, and local authorities instigated the roundup after a one year investigation into drug trafficking in Lowndes County, mostly related to the distribution of cocaine.
Authorities say they were looking for 13 people and made arrests in Lowndes and Tate County and in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
