COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) — With the help of a grant, the Mississippi University for Women is doing its part to help local residents improve their health and wellness.

A program entitled Passport to Wellness will enable people to make healthier lifestyle choices through a series of events.

MUW received a a grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation for $252,300 that will go a long way toward helping people better utilize current resources.

"More and more of our students and faculty and staff and the community are placing an emphasis on wellness, healthy eating habits, and this is just another way for us to advance our mission of serving the community," said Jim Borsig, MUW president.

Borsig adds it should be implemented in the spring of 2014 with the grant project expected to last a couple of years.
