COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) -- Hundreds of people had the opportunity to choose from dozens of plants and vegetables Saturday by shopping at a Greenhouse Open House in Columbus.
With spring now here, what better way for people to spruce up their homes and gardens than by purchasing plants, flowers and even vegetables?
Every item is planted and grown by members of the Palmer Home for Children who, through the Greenhouse Program, get to experience horticulture therapy and learn how nurturing something can benefit them in the future.
"We have a few different hanging baskets with a variety of different plants and colors," adds Cyndi Walls, houseparent with Brotherhood Cottage. "We're also are selling geraniums, draining lilies [and] gerber daisies as well and we're also growing different vegetables."
Proceeds raised goes towards family activities like movie theater and family trips that the children at the Palmer Home participate in throughout the year.
