JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Lowndes County man has lost his attempt to have his conviction and sentence in an armed robbery case overturned.

The Mississippi Court of Appeals has denied the appeal of Jabariakias Cunningham, 23, of Artesia.

Cunningham is accused of robbing the Naem Grocery Store in Artesia on January 27, 2011.

He was accused of firing two shots during the commission of the robbery.

Cunningham was indicted for armed robbery and aggravated assault and convicted in February of 2012 by a Lowndes County jury.

He was sentenced as a habitual offender to serve two 20-year sentences to run back-to-back.
